Reflections on AKA Kilkenny & The Exciting Road to RDS Art Source BElwira Art
Hello Art Lovers,
What an unforgettable journey the past few weeks have been! I am finally catching my breath after a long, intense, but deeply rewarding ten-day art marathon at the
AKA Festival in Kilkenny.
Looking back, it was an extraordinary time. Meeting so many of you in person, sharing my creative process, and talking about the energy behind my colourful paintings filled my heart with pure joy. Not only did I connect with wonderful art lovers and new collectors, but I also had the pleasure of meeting and bonding with fellow artists. The festival organizers poured an incredible amount of hard work into making this event happen, and I am so grateful to them for creating such a vibrant platform.
If you were following along, you might have even spotted me on the festival map and in the local newspaper! My exhibition space in the Market Cross Shopping Centre was buzzing with visitors, and it was wonderful to see how my bold, energetic works resonated with people. I am thrilled to share that several of my original pieces have found their permanent forever homes. Knowing my art brings color and emotion into someone’s daily life is the greatest motivation a creator can ask for. A special note of thanks goes to Tony Strickland for his curation and continued support of artists—as always, I cherish our wonderful photo together! Ten days of continuous exhibiting is undeniably exhausting, but giving it my all was 100% worth it. I am also so excited to welcome many new subscribers to my mailing list.
Looking Ahead: What's Next in the Studio?
The next stage of intensive work is already underway! In October, I am preparing for a group exhibition in Carlow with my art group Barow Valley Art Group (BVG), where my colourful, energetic works will also be showcased.
However, the enormous challenge and focus right now is my ongoing work on the new collection, Fragments of Existence, which I mentioned in previous blog posts. This collection is truly growing and evolving. I am busy preparing certificates of authenticity, printing a small booklet featuring some of my poems, framing completed works, and of course, creating new ones to bring the vision to life.
I am beyond excited because the official grand premiere of the entire collection will take place this November at RDS Art Source (November 13–15). I will be presenting these works in the Serpentine Hall at Stand L28. Because it’s a generous 6-meter space, I am carefully working on every detail—from how the pieces will be presented to how they will be lit.
A Deeper Look into "Fragments of Existence"
What makes this collection unique? While it still carries vibrant energy, it departs slightly from my usual wild bursts of color. Instead, it is a bit more subdued, embracing a pastel and gold palette.
The hallmark of this collection is its heavy, sculptural texture on canvas, where raw emotions are coated and adorned with layers of precious metals—gold, copper, and silver leaf. This is a collection that has been evolving since 2022, and now it is finally ready to explode with the living existence of our shared emotions.
Join Me on This Journey
My dear art lovers, your support is always priceless.
Please mark your calendars today and make sure to visit me at ArtSource!
If you wish to receive a physical invitation, simply send me an email with your postal address at belwirainfo@gmail.com. In this whirlwind of preparations,
I don't want to miss anyone, so I hope you'll remind me, my dear friend!
That’s probably enough news for now—both of what was and what is yet to come. Remember that the path we walk is the most important thing because it is truly ours, and the final results are a celebration of our choices and hard work. I trust that you will walk a part of this road with me, and together we will feel the joy and energy in the future.
With so much warmth,
