Discover the Portal to the Intangible: A Journey Through Art

There are moments when the natural world reveals a secret—a fleeting encounter near a riverbank, a dragonfly dancing above the water, or the vibrant, wild greenery of an Irish park on a warm June evening. These moments are the heartbeat of my latest work. I am thrilled to introduce two new additions to the Fragment of Existence collection: "Portal to the Intangible: Takeover" and "Portal to the Intangible: Power."
The Essence of the Collection
These 40cm x 40cm canvases are a spiritual journey. In each piece, I explore the dragonfly—delicately painted and captured in a moment of quiet grace—as a symbol of power, survival, and independence.
The Portal: A Symbol of Connection
The focus of the composition is the 'portal' itself: a dense, sculpted undergrowth of shrubbery that spirals outward like a chain. These thorny, organic forms are built up in high relief, providing a raw, tactile contrast to the smooth, painted surface of the dragonfly. To accentuate this 'portal to the intangible,' I have meticulously decorated these raised structures with gold leaf and copper leaf, creating a radiant, metallic movement that draws the eye into the center of the canvas.
A Philosophy of Survival
In these works, I focus on the contrast of matter. The shrubs—forming the twisted, chain-like links of my "portal"—are sculpted, raised, and tangible to the touch, while the dragonflies remain flat and delicate, as if hovering on the surface of reality. This play of textures is my interpretation of nature’s strength: its physical, almost palpable power, which remains elusive and mysterious. Nature thrives, survives, and regenerates with a quiet, persistent strength. These works are a meditation on that resilience.
The Craft of "Fragment of Existence"
Each piece is a complex interplay of materials, carefully layered and sealed:
Media: A blend of acrylics (spray and tube), archival inks, and organic dyes (spirulina and red worm pigments).
Signature Touch: Hand-applied gold leaf that catches the light, bringing movement to the textured surface.
Longevity: Every work is professionally varnished, ensuring they remain timeless.
