Description:
Power explores the concept of independence within the natural world. Here, the 'portal' is a spiraling, chain-like structure of sculpted shrubbery that acts as a gateway for the dragonfly. By utilizing high-relief modeling paste decorated with gold and copper leaf, I have created a radiant, metallic movement that draws the eye toward the center of the canvas, where the dragonfly rests. The contrast between the rugged, tactile "portal" and the ethereal, painted subject serves as a meditation on how nature survives and regenerates without effort or demand. This is a foundational piece of the Fragment of Existence collection, capturing a moment of transformation and enduring beauty.
