About the Artwork
"Hug Me" (2026) is an deeply emotional and soul-stirring piece from my core collection "Fragments of Existence", making its official premiere this November at RDS Art Source Dublin (Stand L28 in the Serpentine Hall).The inspiration for this work came from peaceful walks in the park - observing the grounding, patient presence of ancient trees waiting to embrace us, and reflecting on how we as humans sometimes drift apart. It is a visual reminder that a simple embrace is often all it takes to warm and heal a wandering soul, offering a safe space to reconnect with a shared, universal energy.
The Intricate Technique & Texture
Sculptural Depth: The entire relief was meticulously sculpted using a rich combination of modeling pasta, gesso, and sand pasta, creating a powerful, tactile surface.
Colour & Light: Acrylics and inks were layered and blended to achieve a mesmerizing, atmospheric glow. Delicate gold dust is scattered across the background to illuminate the wandering spirits.
Golden Canopy: The majestic tree and its grounding roots are lavishly covered in shimmering gold leaf, catching the light dynamically throughout the day.
Framing & Finish: The artwork is housed in a deep (5.5 cm) striking black frame crafted locally here in Carlow, where I live and work, and sealed with a protective gloss varnish for ultimate durability and brilliance.
