About the Artwork
"Weather Anomaly" (2026) is a tactile "sculpture of life," part of my core collection "Fragments of Existence" (previewing this November at RDS Art Source Dublin, Stand L28). It serves as a physical record of a transformative journey through Türkiye, where the raw power of nature dictated every single brushstroke.
The entire space was consumed by a glowing, yellowish-orange haze. Yellow reflections of the sun and golden highlights shimmering indoors created an overwhelming, unforgettable impression. Outside, the view of the sea, the mountains, and the horizon vanished entirely. A thick dust mist—resembling a solar eclipse, yet born entirely from the grit of a massive sandstorm—created an anomaly that was as much visual as it was meteorological. Even our clothes retained the fine orange dust, intensifying the surreal atmosphere of that moment.
To translate this experience, I integrated genuine sand into the painting's structure, creating a gritty, organic relief. The use of decorative gold and copper leaves captures the flickering sunlight struggling through heavy, storm-laden clouds, offering a view through a shimmering window into a moment where the world as we knew it dissolved.
The Creative Process & Technique Crafted on a 92 x 61 cm deep edge canvas, this piece is now housed in a beautiful black frame crafted locally here in Carlow, where I live and work.
 
Texture & Materials: Built using professional modelling paste, structural gesso, and authentic sand.
Finish: The entire surface is protected with a high-quality gloss varnish, ensuring deep color richness, durability, and protection from environmental factors.
