The Story: A Creative Synergy
This painting was born from an international artistic dialogue between Elwira and British photographer Jack Thompson. Inspired by Thompson’s black-and-white photography at the Clonter Opera Theatre in Swettenham Heath, England, Elwira sought to reinterpret a portrait of the renowned Estonian soprano, Mirjam Mesak.
While the original photograph captured a moment after a grand performance, Elwira sensed a profound undertone of sadness and anxiety beneath the surface. With the official permission of both the photographer and Mirjam Mesak herself—who personally endorsed the finished work—Elwira created this evocative tribute to the emotional weight of the performing arts.
