The Story: A Creative Friendship Across Time
The inspiration for this work is a direct result of Elwira’s friendship with the photographer Marcin Bogdanowicz. When they were neighbours, Marcin—who was beginning his promising career—took a highly inspiring self-portrait. Captivated by the photograph and its inherent meditative quality ("there is nothing but me and space"), Elwira was inspired to "translate" his self-portrait into her own artistic language. This painting is that "magical" translation—a tribute to creative synergy.
