The Vision: A Story of Two Years
The painting began in 2017 as a portrait of a mysterious figure, inspired by a photograph and a conversation with a friend who was writing a book about life’s secrets. A year later, Elwira returned to the canvas, adding "secret storms of lust" and emotion through bold, expressive splashes of paint and aggressive palette knife movements. The resulting image is a woman partially hidden by a hat and a high collar—a personification of the mysteries we all carry.
Artistic Mastery:
Evolution of Style: This piece showcases the transition from figurative realism to emotional expressionism. The "smeared" effect on the coat, added in 2018, gives the painting a sense of rapid movement and urgency.
Layered Narrative: Using acrylics to their full potential, Elwira created a rich texture where the vibrant blue background clashes with the heavy, dark garments, symbolizing the conflict between public persona and private secrets.
Exhibition History: A well-traveled piece, it has been showcased at multiple shows in Carlow and the prestigious Signal Arts Centre in Bray, Ireland.
